Converting Leads
When a lead is qualified and ready to enter your sales pipeline, convert them to a deal with a single action. Converting preserves all lead history and links it to the new deal.
How to Convert a Lead
- Open the Leads Inbox.
- Find the lead you want to convert.
- Click Convert (the arrow icon on the lead card, or the Convert to Deal button inside the lead detail panel).
- A conversion modal appears with pre-filled fields:
- Deal title — defaults to the lead's name; edit as needed
- Pipeline stage — choose the starting stage for the deal
- Deal value — enter the expected value
- Close date — set a target close date
- Assignee — assign to a team member
- Click Convert.
The lead is removed from the inbox and a new deal card appears on the Pipeline Board in the selected stage.
What Gets Carried Over
When a lead is converted, the following data is copied to the new deal:
| Data | Carried over |
|---|---|
| Contact details | Yes |
| Notes | Yes |
| Email history | Yes |
| Lead signals | Visible in deal timeline |
| Tags | Yes |
| Source | Recorded in deal history |
| Sequences | Stopped (new sequences can be started on the deal) |
Creating a New Contact on Conversion
If the lead does not have a matching contact in your Contacts database, Bsynced CRM will offer to create one automatically during conversion. The contact is created with the lead's name, email, phone, and company, and linked to the new deal.
If a matching contact already exists (matched by email address), you will be asked whether to link to the existing contact or create a new one.
After Conversion
Once converted:
- The lead moves out of the Leads Inbox (it is archived, not deleted).
- The new deal appears on the Pipeline Board.
- All subsequent communication (emails, WhatsApp messages, activities) is logged against the deal.
- The lead's original source is preserved in the deal's timeline for reporting purposes.
Bulk conversion
You cannot bulk-convert multiple leads at once. Each lead must be converted individually to ensure deal values and stages are set correctly.
Lead not ready yet?
If the lead needs more nurturing, add them to an automation Sequence instead of converting immediately. Once they engage (reply, click, book a meeting), convert them at that point when intent is higher.
